I love my boyfriend of 6 months, but, we still have a few kinks in need of being worked out?
My boyfriend embarrasses me on almost a daily a basis… I love him very much, and I try to overlook his quirky tendencies, but sometimes, they’re just too noticeable. We’ll be walking down the hall and he starts to walk backwards, running into everyone. Or we’ll be in a restaurant and he’ll freak the cashier out by his frantic conversation, his attempt at being humorous. And if I say something that he doesn’t like too much, he will (in a joking, yet, excessive manner) play-cry really loud and people will stare at us. There’s humorous and then there’s straight up obnoxious.
Even when he is being serious, he steadily increases his voice to where he is practically screaming at me, but when i tell him to lower his voice, he doesn’t even realize how loud he actually is and says, "im not being loud!"
My mom said that a quick-talker & attention-wanter are usually signs of low confidence, and he has even told me that he lacks confidence in himself.
What should I do? Is there any way of breaking him of this? I know girls mature faster than guys, and he is 17, but will he just grow out of it on his own?
Because he acts the same way (but in a, horrifically, calmer manner) than his father, who is 45, and it scares me to death to think of being with a man who acts like a child….
And in case you’re wondering, no, my boyfriend doesn’t and has never done drugs, so that possibility would be ruled out as to why he acts frantic.
His father used to though, years before my boyfriend was born, and I’m thinking that the after-affects of drug use in his father’s personality influenced the way my boyfriend acts now.
Besides the embarrassment, my boyfriend also lacks real goals.
He regularly fails a class or two every 6 weeks, and still thinks he has half a chance (as a junior, more so) that he will make it into Annapolis.
He doesn’t quite understand just how prestigious of a school that is.
And about getting a job, I’ve even suggested for him to come along with me and go and get applications, and he seriously said, "Well… I’m just not the type to fill out and application and be evaluated in an interview"
And of course, I was angry at how naive of a statement that was and told him so.
He hasn’t had any examples growing up, I mean, neither of his parents graduated high school.
And today, his mother is divorced from his father but yet his father lives in the same house as my boyfriend’s mom and her boyfriend!
Makes SO much sense, right?
And the suspicion of selling drugs. There are constantly people in and out of my bf’s house, his mom’s room is a high-traffic area for all kinds of people, a lot of them I never see twice.
Grown adults also spend the night frequently which, I assume, is to ward off suspicion from other neighbors about what may be going on, but, even a friend of mine who used to be his next door neighbor said that it looked suspicious, even my bf’s best friend (who’s parent’s sell pot, have a huge field of it growing in their backyard all covered up) says it looks suspicious.
I just don’t know what to do with him… is there anything I can do at this point?
He has told me multiple times that he wanted to get out of that hellhole, and that is why I am trying to graduate early so I can start my career and get more money so that by the time he graduates, I’ll have a good amount put back and we can leave.
But in the meantime, suggestions?

Let him know how his behavior sometimes makes you feel and also let him know you love him and care about him. let him know you have goals you are wanting to reach and want him to have some goals too so that your relationship can grow. tell him you’ll be there to support him but he needs to start organizing his life.

the other thing you might want to look at is you. love can sometimes put blinders over someones eyes. make it hard to make the right choices. Is your boyfriend really who you can see with you long term? Will he be a support to you in your goals? look deep down and ask yourself if you can emotionally continue to love him.

All were solid albums at the time of release. I think GRODT has the most playback value. The Documentary was good, but didn’t give me as good a vibe as GRODT. Cheers was an underrated album, but something was lacking about it IMO. Obie did a good job though.

I posted on a web forum about local landlords that mine was terrible and is very irresponsible with repairs, etc. (basically everything a landlord shouldn’t be but usually is). one time she also started throwing things while i was in the office crying saying she hated her job and life and kids etc. and my roommate also said that she admitted to being on emotional medications in front of her. as a result of these actions, my post stated that she was neglegent with repairs and maintenance, rude on the phone (she hangs up on me when i ask her to do repairs), and seems to take medicated emotional issues out on paying tenants. I was hoping i did not commit a defamation crime for saying the honest to god truth, and I am thinking of future tenants that will have to put up with this landlord’s BS. Honestly, we have a brown, water-stained ceiling that i have been calling about, lousy loud neighbors that I have been calling about, and FINALLY after 7 months got a lock fixed that someone else apparently had the key to. So tell me, am I in the clear legally? Is it a crime to spread the truth?

No it is not illegal - but it can still get you 30 days notice if you make the manager too angry. Is it really worth the risk?

The truth is an absolute defense to a claim of defamation . . . but the burden would be on YOU to prove that you were telling the truth.

The biggest problem that I see with what you claim you posted concerns your crack about her admitting to being on "emotional medications." I can virtually guarantee that you don’t have proof that she is taking "emotional medications." And if your post included statements concerning her mental health, then yes, you could find yourself on the wrong side of a defamation action.

If you stuck with OBJECTIVE facts and kept your opinions, feelings, and snarky cracks out of your posts you would be 100% fine. The rule of thumb is to ask yourself if you would write this for a judge. If your post isn’t professional enough that you would want a judge reading it and making a decision about you, then you should probably edit it.

As far as loud neighbors just call the law, you don’t need the landlord for that.

As far as her being terrible you are allowed an opinion like everyone else.
As for the drugs part, do you know that for sure?
Have you actually seen her take them?
If not then do not repeat that.

You could say you suspect that she is taking drugs.
Probably finding out who the real owners are would be the best bet.
She works for a company more than likely.
Unless it is a small place.

Have your other tenants sign a paper against her and present it to the owners and get her out of there.
